In Sutter´s Mill the players not only try to dig as much gold as possible but also to achieve as much control over the few stores & offices in the booming town of Coloma.
This is done by playing cards (with different values = high value is better) on the stores. Therefore, the more cards you play on a store, the higher your influence is. However, all players have to leave Coloma as fast as possible when there is no more gold to dig; if you have played cards at stores, you´ll need to remove them, which costs time…
